If you enjoy crafts, this volunteer opportunity is for you! No sewing experience required.
After months of accepting community donations of military-issued uniforms at Sheldon Cleaners locations, Grand Rapids-based nonprofit organizations HAS HEART and Treetops Collective are looking for volunteers to have a very meaningful collaborative craft night.
On August 30, from 5PM - 8PM, volunteers will be working alongside Treetop Collective’s small-batch sewing program members to deconstruct the camo fatigues into the patchwork-style fabric to be re-sewn into bench upholstery for its seating inside the HAS HEART Coffee Shop at Veterans Memorial Park in downtown Grand Rapids.
“Our mission to bring the civilian and military communities together make this partnership with Treetops Collective extra special as they have continued to provide opportunities and connections to New American women and refugees in West Michigan,” says Tyler Way, Co-Founder and Creative Director of HAS HEART.
